For the first time this year, the Glass Door Sleep Out (or in) will be bringing all participants together via a live stream broadcasting from Duke of York Square on 2 October 2020. Interviews with special guests will be featured throughout the evening starting at 9pm and again from 6:30 to 7AM the next morning. 

Keep an eye on this page for updates, the full schedule and timings to be revealed before the 2 October event.

Colin Firth

Award-winning actor Colin Firth will be reading a poem. Best known for playing Mr Darcy in the 1995 TV adaptation of Pride and Prejudice as well as starring in Bridget Jones's Diary, The King's Speech and many other filmsColin Firth has supported Glass Door for several years. He has won Academy Awards, BAFTAs, Golden Globes and Primetime Emmy Awards for his film and screen appearances.

Jim Carter

Best known for playing Mr Carson in the period drama Downton Abbey, Jim Carter will be reading a bedtime story to all participants before they sleep out (or in) for the night. Jim has been nominated four times for a Primetime Emmy Award for his role in Downton Abbey. He also starred in the BBC series Cranford alongside his wife Imelda Staunton and his film credits include Shakespeare in LoveThe Golden Compass and Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland.

Broadcaster Bibi Lynch 

Journalist, writer and broadcaster Bibi Lynch presents a weekly Live and Local show for BBC Radio Sussex and BBC Radio Surrey, co-presents Good Sex Bad Sex (a podcast for metro.co.uk), and fronts her own show Bibi Does Soho on Soho Radio. She also writes for many titles and sites, including the GuardianStellaThe Telegraph and Metro

Bibi will hosting part of the live broadcast and sleeping out for the second year running. Find out more about Bibi at https://bibilynch.com/.

Broadcaster Elizabeth Healey

Elizabeth is an actor, broadcaster, film-maker and neuroscientist. She presents the award-winning documentary The Cure, showcasing modern medicine at work around the world, from war zones to the arctic circle. She was nominated for Special Correspondent of the Year for her work on this at the Royal Television Society Awards in 2017. Elizabeth has also appeared in blockbuster movies such as Marvel’s Doctor Strange

Elizabeth will be hosting the later part of the live broadcast. 

Comedian Tiff Stevenson

Tiff StevensonAward-winning stand up comedian, actor and writer Tiff Stevenson performs to audiences worldwide. She was a series regular on hit shows such as the BAFTA-winning "People Just Do Nothing" (BBC & Netflix) and "Game Face" (E4/Hulu). She also played the lead in the European premiere of Eric Bogosian’s seminal play Talk Radio at the Edinburgh Festival.

As a stand up and TV personality, Tiff is a regular on TV shows such as Drunk History, Mock The Week, 8 out of 10 cats, The Apprentice-You’re Fired, The Blame Game and This Week.

Sleep specialist Dr Kat Lederle 

Dr Kat will be discussing the importance of sleep. She will explain why sleep matters and offer some tips on getting the best forty winks. She will also include insight from Glass Door guests on the experience of sleep when you are homeless and its impact on your wellbeing. Dr Kat’s talk will be followed by a short Q&A where you will have the chance to ask questions.

Mayor of RBKC Gerard Hargreaves 

The Worshipful the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Councillor Gerard Hargreaves, will be opening this year's Sleep Out with a ribbon-cutting and speech. The Mayor chose Glass Door as his charity of the year and will be supporting us in various ways over the next year. He has already arranged for 1,000 face masks to be donated to Glass Door to be used by caseworkers and guests experiencing homelessness.

Former Chelsea FC player Paul Canoville

Paul CanovillePaul Canoville was the first black player to sign for Chelsea FC in 1981. He faced racism from fans and went on to beat addiction and cancer after he retired from football. Paul wrote an award-winning autobiography about his experiences called Black And Blue which was made into a Sky Sports documentary in 2015. Paul will be telling his story of experiencing homelessness and fighting adversity live during the Sleep Out (or in).

Paul established the Paul Canoville Foundation to engage with and motivate young people who may be facing adversity. Find out more about the foundation on Facebook or Twitter.

Choir of St Luke’s Chelsea

Conducted by Jeremy Summerly, this mixed-voice choir usually sings evening concerts and undertakes two cathedral tours a year. They featured in all ten episodes of A Cause for Carolling on BBC Radio 4. It is hard to find another choir performing a wide liturgical repertoire on a regular basis to such a high standard. 

The choir will perform "When you needed a neighbour, were you there" by Sydney Carter, specifically for the event.

DJ Northern Boy

Northern Boy is a passionate purveyor of soulful, disco house music. Manchester born and bred, he has played up and down the UK including a residency at Ministry of Sound and regular sets at the iconic Wobble in Birmingham. He says that house music has changed in his life and inspires a new way of being. Northern Boy will be bringing us this ethos with a smooth DJ set from midnight to 1am to help all of us get off to sleep wherever we might be sleeping out this year.

Yoga teacher and wellness coach Nadia Mishchanka

Yoga teacher and wellness coach Nadia will be leading a Rise-and-Shine movement session for all participants during the morning after the Sleep Out. So no matter how you find sleeping out (or in), Nadia will help you gently wake up and start the day feeling refreshed, positive and ready to go. Nadia is a dedicated Sleep Out supporter; this will be her third consecutive year taking part.

Other special guests

Staff and former guests of Glass Door will share stories and insights. Participants taking part from their home, gardens or elsewhere will also be featured remotely during the live-stream.
