To celebrate International Women’s Day this week, the chefs from the Royal Garden Hotel treated the Glass Door Women’s Group to a special afternoon tea.

The women were delighted with the spring-themed spread and there was not a scrap of food left when Women’s Group was over.

One female guest commented:

They even have vegan options, wow!

The weekly Glass Door Women's Group creates a safe and supportive space for women who are homeless or vulnerably housed. Offering creative activities such as poetry and crafts, the group aims to create a restorative atmosphere for women to relax and access Glass Door's support services. 

This afternoon tea was one part of a two-year initiative with Royal Garden Hotel. It follows their successful Christmas campaign in aid of Glass Door.

We spoke to Executive Head Chef Steve Munkley about what the partnership with Glass Door means to him:

He said:

I feel quite passionate about giving something back to the community. I absolutely hate it when I’m walking along the street and I see people sleeping in doorways so when Glass Door was chosen as a charity, it really struck home to me that this was a great partnership. The staff at the hotel have really got behind it.
