Our friends at Ace of Clubs are working with Lambeth Council and Thamesreach to provide support for a new night shelter they are planning on opening soon in Brixton.

They are currently looking for volunteers who would be able to help with the evening meal.

The responsibilities would be as follows:

  • Monday to Thursday: The meal will have been prepared at Ace of Clubs and delivered to the venue in Brixton. Volunteers would be required to arrive around 7pm, reheat the meal, prepare any additional items (possibly vegetables, salad, custard etc) and have the meal ready to be served to the guests shortly after 9pm.  There will be up to 10 guests, two paid members of Thamesreach staff and the volunteers, and it is imagined that everyone will eat together.  The volunteers would then clear away, wash up and leave.
  • Friday to Sunday – there would be no meal already prepared.  Volunteers may be expected to prepare a meal from scratch (expenses would be reimbursed), or it may be that local restaurants are contacted to provide the meal.

If you would be interested in helping out with this new and important initiative to keep those who are rough sleeping safe and off the streets, please get in touch with [email protected], indicating which days of the week you would be available.
