Glass Door is running a campaign to increase vaccine uptake among people experiencing homelessness and those that support them. Find out below how to get involved.

At Glass Door, we believe that we all have a social responsibility to have the vaccine when the opportunity arises. It will not only protect you, it will also help protect everyone around you.

We all want day centres, cafes, libraries and other services that provide support to fully reopen safely. The better the vaccine uptake, the sooner they can once again serve as places of refuge for those who have nowhere else to turn.

At Glass Door, we have been pushing for special vaccine outreach programmes to give access to people affected by homelessness. However, access isn't enough. We also need to listen to the concerns of those who are vaccine shy and do more to counter myths that may be holding people back from receiving the vaccine.

What we're doing

We are distributing posters in our services that promote social responsibility and encourage the guests of our services to have conversations with staff. For staff, we're providing fact sheets and asking for feedback. We're also distributing materials developed by the charity Groundswell aimed at people who are experiencing homelessness. 500 flyers arrived in our office today, and they're being distributed across our services.

What you can do

Get involved by modelling good behaviour. Once you've had the vaccine yourself, take a photo of yourself with a sign saying "I've had the Covid-19 Vaccine," or "I've had the Jab" to let others know you are keeping yourself and others safe. Share on your social channels using the hashtags #HomelessHealth, #InclusionHealth and #VaccinesForAll and tag @glassdoorlondon.  Or email photos directly to communications officer Mikaela, and we will share along with the message that having the vaccine will not only help you, but it’s also helping to open up day centres and other homeless services safely.

Here's Keith and Melissa from Glass Door modelling the campaign.

Sharing is caring

Glass Door is happy to share the fact sheet and templates for these posters to anyone else who can use them. We think the posters will work best when they feature people who are trusted in the community, so our frontline staff have agreed to put their face on these posters. Other services can swap in their own staff and logo. Do get in touch if you would like to receive the templates.
