On Friday 4 October 2019, I will be joining Glass Door Homeless Charity's Sleep Out in the Square to bring shelter and support to men and women affected by homelessness.

As you may know last year I volunteered my time over Christmas and was overwhelmed with the generosity of family and friends. I will volunteer my time this year at Christmas, however my fundraising this year will be based on sleeping out in the cold October night.

I am fundraising to raise awareness of the increasing homelessness problem in the UK and to help support over a hundred people sleep in a safe place during the winter months. About 130 individuals sleep in a Glass Door shelter every night in winter, making Glass Door London’s largest emergency winter night shelter network. Glass Door is able to do this thanks to partnerships with churches across West and South West London.

Guests receive a warm welcome, a hot supper and a breakfast in the morning, cooked and served by volunteers. These free services are a life-line to those who would otherwise be sleeping on the street. Glass Door welcomes everyone as their guest, giving them some stability before helping them make the necessary steps move off the streets for good.

I have started my fundraiser with £50, please don't feel you have to match that - whatever you can give is going towards safe sleep for people who really need our support.

Please share with family and friends on Facebook and Twitter - and beyond - so I can reach my target, and together we can bring more people in off the streets.

Thank you all for your encouragement and support!
