Get help Shelter If we can't help today The shelters are now closed. During the winter, you are welcome to fill out a request for emergency shelter for yourself or on behalf of someone else, and we will contact you when a space becomes available. However, please know spaces are limited and you may have to be patient. In the meantime, we recommend you: Contact the housing department of your local authority – usually the place you’ve most recently lived – to fill in a homeless application. You can use the Gov.uk website to find your local council. Attend a local homeless drop-in centre. Contact Streetlink, a service that aims to ensure people sleeping rough are connected to the local services and support available to them. Call Shelter's help line for over-the-phone advice. Or if you are between 16-25, contact Centrepoint Helpline on 0808 800 0661 (Mon-Fri 9-5, calls are free). Find guidance on where to get help using Homeless Link's searchable tools.
