We have for some time wanted to go on the pilgrimage walk to Santiago de Compostela in Northern Spain. With David’s recent hip replacements and time constraints we knew we could not make the full journey on St James’ route so we settled for the last 200 kilometers starting at Ponferrada.

The walking was hard at times, with 6-8 hours each day walking for 11 days with some steep climbs on rocky, uneven paths, but it was an amazing experience. We enjoyed the scenery, birds, flowers and butterflies. We also enjoyed meeting other pilgrims and hearing their stories.

A pilgrimage should not just benefit the pilgrim but also support others. To this end we sought sponsorship for the walk. We could think of no better charity to support than Glass Door.

Thank you to everyone who sponsored us, to enable Glass Door to continue with the great work they do for the homeless in London.
