We are proud to announce that we have already smashed our fundraising target of £200,000 for the Glass Door Sleep Out 2019. This is fastest we've ever reached our fundraising target for our annual Sleep Out event, which has taken place on the first Friday of October every year since 2013. With donations and gift aid still coming in, we are on track to break a new fundraising record with this year’s Sleep Out.

What it means

The amount raised means that we will be able to open a fifth winter shelter circuit and provide shelter to 170 people every night of the winter this year. This is another record – since it is the highest number of individuals Glass Door has pledged to shelter since the charity began.

We will also be able to grow our casework team. Our caseworkers help change lives by assisting guests with securing permanent tenancies as well as offering assistance and advice on the broad range of issues that those experiencing homelessness face. Your generous donations have allowed us to join forces with two new community partners, offering Glass Door casework support to shelter guests at the Upper Room in Shepherd’s Bush and St Cuthbert’s near Earl’s Court.

Feedback

Feedback from the participants of this year’s Sleep Out was overwhelmingly positive. Everyone surveyed described the experience as ‘excellent’ or ‘very good’.

1oo% of respondents said they might recommend participating in the Sleep Out to a friend or colleague.
