The daytime services plays a vital part in helping guests get back on their feet. Guests come from all different backgrounds so we can encounter issues with communication and helping guests with low-level English. Though many of our caseworkers are multilingual, we do not have a Romanian speaker among our staff. Help provide a warm welcome or assist behind the scenes by translating for Romanian guests.

There will also be the opportunity to assist in other ways within the drop-in, as below.

Front-of-house reception

As the days get shorter, darker and colder, more and more individuals will be coming through the doors of the Chelsea Methodist Church drop-in looking for shelter, advice, support and food. Welcome guests and put their names down on lists for shelter, casework advice, doctor appointments, showers, laundry and the clothing bank. The role may also require coordination with Glass Door office and the Chelsea Methodist Church. Training provided.

  • Hours: 9am- 1pm Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays (minimum of 2 hour shifts required)
  • Location: Chelsea Methodist Church, 155a Kings Road, London  SW3 5TX
  • Commitment: If you are free to volunteer during the key hours of 9am-1pm for at least three months, please get in touch.

Mail and resource distribution

During the Monday and Thursday drop-in service run in partnership with Chelsea Methodist Church, we need a helping hand with sorting mail and distributing towels to guests. This is a chance to provide some valuable hands-on support.
