Guest Advisory Group

What is the Guest Advisory Group?

Glass Door are forming a new Guest Advisory Group. The purpose of the group is to make sure that our services and other activities are informed by the voices of people with lived experience of homelessness.

You may be currently homeless or you may have been homeless in the past. You do not need to have accessed Glass Door services or be familiar with our work before you join the group.

How will the Group work?

The group will meet a few times a year. We will share plans and ask for feedback and ideas. We will keep in regular contact with group members to give updates on how the group’s input has shaped our work.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, it is likely that the Guest Advisory Group meetings will initially take place online. At least one Glass Door staff member will attend, but all other members will have lived experience of homelessness.

Please speak to us if you would like to join the group but would face barriers. Some examples of barriers are:

  • communication barriers (if you don’t speak fluent English, or if you have a hearing impairment or communication difference)
  • technology barriers (if you don’t have a computer/tablet/smart phone/internet connection)
  • challenges of participating in meetings while being homeless or vulnerably housed
  • something else that stops you from feeling able to take part in meetings

How will I make a difference?

You will be making an impact on the lives of people experiencing homelessness by taking part in the group. You will have an influence on our work and help us to find solutions that improve services.

The experience that you will bring is valuable. We are happy to speak to you about how we can best support you with learning opportunities that enable you to participate and amplify your voice.

We believe it’s important that people who are are experiencing homeless are involved as equal partners when making decisions that may affect them. We also place value on the knowledge of people who are formerly homeless.

How can I sign up?

We believe in everyone’s potential and would like to hear from anyone who is interested in joining Glass Door’s Guest Advisory Group.

  • If you think you would be able to commit at least six months to the group, please contact Caroline on [email protected] or 07708084157.
  • If you would like to be involved but can’t commit long-term, we would like to hear from you in other ways like our guest open discussion events, surveys and feedback forms. You can also send your feedback and ideas to [email protected]

Spreading the word

If you know of someone who would be suitable for the group and would benefit from taking part, feel free to download and print our advert to hand to them.
