Our £20,000 match pot has now been used up, thanks to your generosity. But you can still donate to our Christmas Appeal – every donation gets us closer to our target of £230,000. We’re nearly halfway through December, and while most people are getting excited to spend the festive season with their loved ones, homelessness in London is at a record high. This is the reality of what we’re facing: Over 230 people are on our waiting list for Emergency Night Shelter, meaning they might have no choice but to brave the streets, cold and alone. The Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) has already been triggered twice in London, meaning temperatures outside dropped below freezing, causing danger to life. Last week, we closed our referrals to men who need shelter because we are already so oversubscribed. But with your help, we can get more people off the streets this Christmas. Thanks to the generosity of two supporters, we have a £20,000 matched giving pot* available. This means that, once again, anything you donate will be doubled while matched funds last. Your gift will go twice as far to offer life-saving shelter, advice and support to our guests who desperately need your help. We are grateful to HandSpark Charitable Trust, who have provided £15,000 of matched funding and Giveclarity, who have provided matched funding of £5,000. How your support changes lives £35 doubled to £70 could provide two people, instead of one, with a safe place to sleep, along with a hot evening meal and breakfast for one night in our Emergency Winter Night Shelters. £115 doubled to £230 could provide 20 people, instead of 10, with an initial advice session from our Caseworkers at one of our partner daytime centres £242 doubled to £484 could fund a “move-on” package — including personalised support sessions and a deposit top-up — to help two people, not just one, move into stable accommodation. Our Winter Night Shelters have only been open for one month, but we’ve already welcomed 241 guests and supported 15 into housing. That’s 15 guests who now have a safe and warm home to sleep in this Christmas. But we can't stop there – please help us bring more people home this winter.
