Could your school fundraise for Glass Door?

If you’re looking for inspiration, here are a few ideas to get you started:

  • Hold a non-uniform day
  • Incorporate some fundraising into events such as a talent show or school play
  • Try your hand at baking and host a bake sale. You could even turn it in to an all school competition and crown a star baker!
  • Hold a Sleep Out in a school hall or field
  • Collect spare change throughout a term – why not turn it in to a friendly competition and see which class or year can raise the most!
  • Quiz - Pay £1 to enter and winner takes half total
  • Why not get parents and teachers involved too? Ask your PTA or friends group to hold a quiz, dinner or summer fete

We can provide a primary schools pack, and a secondary, colleges and sixth form pack. Both provide age appropriate information on homelessness in addition to fundraising tips.

As an independent charity that receives no government fundraising, it is thanks to the support and generosity of our schools that we can continue to provide shelter and support to those who need it most. Lady Margaret and Southbank International School said:

For several years Lady Margaret School has been supporting Glassdoor through fundraising, collections of items that are needed and monetary collections during our church services. We want to raise as much money and donate as much as we can, but it is also important to us that we raise awareness of the issues surrounding homelessness.

Southbank International School wants to be an important part of our community and by supporting Glass Door we can see our impact. Students gain an understanding of what it means to participate and have advocacy for others.

Talks at Schools

We will provide teaching resources on homelessness such as videos, a full presentation from a Glass Door’s team member in West/Southwest London, educational talks from experienced front-line workers and suggested activities to encourage the students to learn more about charity work and homelessness in London.

Harvest Collection

If you are interested in running a Harvest Festival Collection, we ask that you please take a look at the kinds of things we currently need
