Blog Sleep Out 2025: A stormy success On the night of Friday 3 October 2025, Glass Door Homeless Charity held its 13th annual Sleep Out, gathering 80 participants at St Luke’s Church. So far, the charity’s supporters have raised over £90,000! From the whole Glass Door team, thank you so much for taking part in Sleep Out 2025! One month ago, 80 sleepers braved a storm and gave up their beds to support our guests who face the reality of sleeping outside every night, come rain or shine. Our sleepers have raised over £90,000, which is an amazing achievement. Last year, we supported 423 people into safe and secure housing, and we hope to help even more people find a safe home this year, thanks to your generosity and support. Reflections from Christopher, a 2025 Sleeper “I’m, of course, aware that a Glass Door event on St. Luke’s porch offers only a limited insight to the lived experience [of rough sleeping], and having the Glass Door volunteers sitting outside all night to watch over us also increased my appreciation for those performing that task at the shelters.” “However, the wet and windy weather was very real, which, along with all the noise, left me cold and damp at dawn, with just three and a half hours of sleep." Through the bad weather, I couldn’t help but think that the Glass Door shelters hadn’t yet opened for the winter, and many unfortunate people were sharing this experience. “In particular, I’ve just moved home and have found that someone sleeps rough on my back doorstep. I’ve only spent a couple of nights at my home, and we are yet to meet; but as I shifted my mat to avoid the rain, I wondered how this man was fairing.” Thank you to everyone involved First of all, an enormous thank you to all the Sleep Out participants who made it an incredible night and raised vital funds to help us support our guests this winter. Then of course, a massive thank you to everyone who has donated to Sleep Out so far – every penny raised makes a difference. We’d also like to thank the staff who made the event a success, including our frontline caseworkers who led discussions with sleepers about the current state of homelessness in London and what they do every day to support our guests. A huge thank you to Cadogan for their ongoing support and to St Luke’s and Christ Church for hosting us on the night, ensuring that our sleepers had the option to shelter from the storm. We hope to see you all at Sleep Out next year – hopefully minus the storm! Manage Cookie Preferences
