We believe homelessness can be solved. But it takes more than short-term fixes; it requires long-term solutions, better policies, the right funding and resources, and effective collaboration.

That’s why we’re happy to share our Glass Door Homeless Charity 2025-2030 strategy.

Our vision

No one in London should face homelessness. The systems to access support are challenging to navigate and housing is becoming harder to secure. Trauma, poverty, age, gender and other vulnerabilities create barriers for people to build a route out of homelessness.

Our vision is a future where no one experiences homelessness in London. We offer advice, shelter and support with our community partners, helping people build a route out of homelessness.

Our ethos

We are open access – anyone facing homelessness can turn to Glass Door regardless of who they are or where they are from.

We are guest centred – we put guests at the centre of everything we do.

We are trauma and gender informed – we build our services to create safety and trust.

We are data & insight-led – we use our frontline experience and data to influence positive change.

Our values

  • We are welcoming.
  • We are open to all, without prejudice.
  • We are compassionate.
  • We believe individuals can turn their lives around.
  • We build trust.
  • We are ambitious and bold, but we grow sustainably.
  • We know we can have a bigger impact when we work together.

We welcome people as guests, rather than as ‘clients' or 'service users’. We offer respect and the idea that all people have dignity and value.

Our services have always been open to all. Guests do not need to fill out lots of forms or show they meet various eligibility criteria to access our services. This means we can provide a safety net for those who cannot navigate the bureaucratic process - as many struggle to do.

Although many of our service partners are churches, we are a secular organisation, and everyone—guests, volunteers, staff, supporters and partners—of all faiths or none are welcome.

Our next five years: 2025-2030

The next five years will bring new pressures: rising housing costs, stretched public services, and growing demand. Our strategy is focused, practical, and ambitious in its commitment to impact.

We will strengthen and adapt our services where they are needed most, ensuring that every action we take makes a meaningful difference in people’s lives. We will continue to invest in the people we support, maintain robust systems and governance, and innovate where we can, always guided by our core values.

Above all, we remain driven by the belief that everyone deserves a safe place to sleep, support to rebuild their lives, and a path out of homelessness. With the ongoing support of our community, partners, and funders, we will work towards a future where no one experiences homelessness in London.

Our strategic aims

Our strategy focuses on providing shelter, advice, and advocacy to help people move on from homelessness for good.

Aim 1: End the cycle of homelessness

We will develop and deliver high-quality, trauma-informed services that support people to move into stable housing and rebuild their lives.

Aim 2: Strengthen pathways out of homelessness

We will work in partnership with others to build effective, joined-up routes into stable housing, improving outcomes for everyone who turns to us  for support.

Aim 3: Influence positive change

We will use our insights and data to amplify the voices of those we support to broaden public awareness and drive systemic change.

Our enabling priorities

We have identified six enabling priorities that support our efforts in achieving our strategic aims. These priorities represent key areas of focus that will strengthen our ability to deliver meaningful and lasting change.

By concentrating on these priorities, we will enhance our capacity to support our guests, build strong partnerships, and create effective pathways to end homelessness.

  1. Put our guests at the centre of what we do.

  1. Achieve sustainable income growth by nurturing and growing our community of supporters.

  1. Ensure our communications are engaging, thoughtful and accessible to establish ourselves as a trusted voice on homelessness.

  1. Develop and embed an organisation-wide impact measurement framework to measure effectiveness, highlight what delivers the greatest impact, and drive continuous improvement.

  1. Ensure Glass Door is a great place to work and volunteer with a supportive culture that encourages and nurtures diversity, inclusion, collaboration and personal development.

  1. Ensure our infrastructure, governance and financial approach enables Glass Door to flourish.
