In the press: “Homelessness can happen to anyone”, Glass Door’s Christmas Appeal film Glass Door’s Christmas Appeal film, narrated by Colin Firth, was covered by a number of news outlets. The film spotlights some of the main forms that homelessness can take and Glass Door’s work to help people build a route towards secure and stable housing. Watch the film here: Essex Magazine Essex Magazine highlighted the film in the context of rising demand for Glass Door’s services, and the call for donations as part of Glass Door’s Christmas Appeal. The article included a quote from Jo Carter, Glass Door’s CEO: The number of people experiencing homelessness in London is more than alarming – it’s a crisis that reflects a perfect storm of contributing factors. The surge in applications to our winter shelters starkly highlights the multitude of challenges people face, from navigating complex bureaucratic systems to the sheer scarcity of safe, affordable housing. The fundamental human right to shelter is being compromised, and this is unacceptable. At Glass Door, we don’t just see numbers; we see individuals – each with a unique story, struggles, and the right to a safe, dignified life. Please consider making a donation to Glass Door Homeless Charity this winter – your contribution will help those who turn to Glass Door for support. Together we can end someone’s nightmare of homelessness. Polly said: It’s a woman’s only shelter and it really feels like a safe space to be in. The women we meet are always warm and friendly and it’s a mixed demographic – some stay longer than others, some only need to stay for one night. Compared to previous years there are more homeless people full stop. There’s also a raised awareness around the volumes of people becoming homeless and the fact it can really happen to anyone.
