On Thursday 7 April 2022, Glass Door hosted an Afternoon Tea with The Worshipful the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Councillor Gerard Hargreaves, at Peter Jones on Sloane Square.

Reunited on the top floor of Peter Jones, 36 volunteers, donors and supporters of Glass Door enjoyed a very cheerful afternoon with tea, fresh scones, and biscuits in a successful opportunity to raise over £2,500 for Glass Door.

Councillor Gerard Hargreaves, Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, gave a speech about his fruitful collaboration with Glass Door over his two mayoral terms.

“It has been a wonderful to collaborate with Glass Door over the past two years, raising funds and awareness for the vital work they do supporting people experiencing homelessness in our borough and across London."

Thank you to all the people who have contributed to our partnership – from buying tickets for carol services to joining my Sleep Out teams, from donating raffle prizes to sponsoring my skydive, and everything else in between!

"All your contributions support Glass Door in their mission to help people to get – and stay – off the streets.”

Reverend Brian Leathard, Chair of Trustees later took the floor: “I wish you weren’t here, because I wish we didn’t need to exist any more", he told the room, "but as reported by caseworkers and workers on the ground, homelessness is still very much a reality in London, and there is a great need for support.” Reverend Brian thanked the attendees in the room as well as purchasers of raffle tickets online and briefly presented future plans for the organisation.

After a random draw, the nine lucky winners of the raffle were announced, many of which were in the room at Peter Jones. Prizes included a Stay with Cheval collection, Hamper from Partridges Chelsea, a Voucher for Beaufort House, Jollie Socks Pick and Mix Packs and more.

This event was part of a very successful series held as part of the partnership that united the the Worshipful the Mayor of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, Councillor Gerard Hargreaves, and Glass Door over the last two Mayoral terms. Glass Door works closely with the council to support people experiencing homelessness.

On Friday 20 May 2022, Cllr Gerard Hargreaves will take part in a skydive from over 10,000ft at up to 120mph, to raise money for Glass Door. Support the Mayor's appeal by making a donation: Glass Door Homeless Charity: Cllr Gerard Hargreaves' Skydive.

All the event and raffle’s proceeds have been donated to Glass Door to ensure support and accommodation for those who have nowhere to call home.

We would like to thank Peter Jones & Partners for hosting the event.
